After receiving criticism for the first avatar’s terrible visuals from the internet, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, altered and upgraded his new “metaverse” avatar.

The response was sparked by the debut of the brand-new VR application from Meta called Horizon Worlds, which was released this last week in France and Spain.

He posted his first avatar, in front of an animated Eiffel Tower, and it was widely derided online, with many users drawing comparisons to the aesthetics of now-decades-old Nintendo games.

Since then, Zuckerberg has released an upgraded version and acknowledged that the Metaverse images were crude.

He has spent billions on creating the classic Nintendo Wii level visuals, as one Twitter user put it plainly.

Many commented on how “scary” and “dead-eyed” the virtual reality app’s photos were.

‘I know the photo I posted earlier this week was pretty basic – it was taken very quickly to celebrate a launch.’ Zuckerberg said on Friday as he started the pivot.

He continued, saying that the visuals in Horizon Worlds “are capable of much more” and “are evolving very quickly.”

Horizon World was initially announced in 2019 and released in beta last year, but it is now available to anybody without an invite.
