Users of Decentraland can now watch a scene from the newest action film from Netflix, “The Gray Man,” inside the metaverse.

The massive streaming service Netflix has arrived in the Decentraland metaverse.

The Gray Man,” starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, is being promoted with the dual goals of discovering new interactive ways for brands to interact with customers online and promoting the film.

The movie is a spy thriller, and Netflix’s activation of Decentraland’s 45 parcels is appropriately referred to as a “Metaverse Mission.” Decentraland rebuilt the setting of the film, creating a fantasy world that users must navigate by demonstrating their understanding of the storyline as they go.

Along with the game’s coders and architects, Diego Alvarez, a senior business developer at The Electric Factory, and Martin Shibuya, the art director at Decentraland Foundation, Blockworks demonstrated the experience.

Users hear the movie’s original music and Ryan Gosling’s instructional video as soon as they enter.

In a joint statement with Netflix Latin America, Decentraland claimed that recreating a scene from a movie was the most effective approach to enter the metaverse. Shibuya claimed that this not only draws in viewers of the film but also “boosts the users that chance to be in Decentraland playing in the maze and gets them to see the video.”

Large corporations can enter the metaverse through the month-long trial by renting virtual land for a single, limited project rather than buying it. If businesses involved in the metaverse “understand how this works and how individuals can engage,” says Alvarez, they “are going to have a significant edge tomorrow.”

He added tha the metaverse is “about having fun, about getting in touch with other people here. And that’s why we have this stimulus [trivia game] that makes you feel like you are always doing something.”

Decentraland reports that in its first week of operation, 2,000 users passed through the maze. Users can connect their cryptocurrency wallets to record their completion time once they reach the fountain in the center and unlock a hidden chamber. Thirteen seconds was the quickest time ever recorded at the demonstration.

Additionally, users can choose prizes that are instantly added to their wallets, such as a free wearable for their avatar. The three major agents’ distinctive looks—Sierra Six’s jacket, Lloyd’s mustache and polo shirt, and Miranda’s blazer and hairstyle—are among the options.

According to Alvarez, brands and businesses are still figuring out how to best use blockchain technology to communicate with their customers. “Web3 has a lot to offer the entertainment industry, particularly in terms of immersive storytelling and audience interaction.”
